How I can help

My professional background

I spent more than 20 years heading marketing for a growing investment advisory firm, and 14 years as a financial writer. My greatest strength is written communication, but I can also advise on marketing strategy, positioning, sales management, and budgeting.

How to work with me

What I can offer

I can help draft written materials for online or hard copy media. I can consult on marketing/sales approaches to find the right fit for an organization and suggest processes to make those approaches consistent and accountable. I can review and critique a business plan with an eye towards both assessing its viability and identifying potential growth opportunities. Overall, I have been a good problem solver throughout my career and would welcome the opportunity to help organizations find solutions that help them succeed.

My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship

A mentor can best help an entrepreneur who is serious about formulating and implementing a sustainable business plan. My expectation is to work with businesses that are committed to taking a disciplined approach to running an organization.

How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start

Have at least an outline of a business plan, including: a) a budget, even if only in preliminary form, based on secured sources of funding sufficient for 12 - 24 months of operation; b) an overview of the competitive landscape, including an assessment of how the company would fit within that landscape; c) an estimate of demand for the company's products or services, preferably with specifics as to recent buying behavior and demographics; d) a list of possible distribution methods, whether currently in use or potential additions.
