Program Update

Mentees and Mentors,

We appreciate your interest in mentorship. Please be advised that after March 31, 2024, the Business Mentor NY Program will cease to operate. However, you can continue to access mentoring services by contacting Entrepreneurship Assistance Centers in your area at esd.ny.gov/eac-directory to obtain one-on-one counseling with your current business idea or small business.

If you would like to continue offering pro bono mentoring services to entrepreneurs or small business owners, please email us at nylovessmbiz@esd.ny.gov with your core business skills, experience or education and your preferred service area.

What I need help with

My background as an entrepreneur

My current challenges

Since I have never owned a business before, a mentor could help me with getting started. Starting a business can seem daunting to someone who has never done it before so I believe a mentor could help me with the business planning process. I also would love for someone to provide insight on purchasing and managing inventory.

About my venture

I am looking to open a women's clothing store that places an emphasis on all products being responsibly sourced, cruelty-free and/or recycled. I am someone who has always been very fashion-forward and have always dreamed of owning my own clothing store. I also am someone who always makes an effort to purchase products that are good for the earth and the living beings that exist on it. Right now my venture is very much in the idea phase but I am looking to take the next steps to get things moving along so I can eventually open my own store front.
