How I can help

My professional background

Kathryn Bamberger is the International Trade and Investment Specialist for Empire State Development, responsible for assisting Northeastern New York’s manufacturers with both exporting and attracting foreign firms to establish manufacturing in New York. Prior to that, she was the International Trade Specialist with the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets for nearly 13 years. She has managed the New York Pavilion in dozens of national and international trade shows and has led several delegations and trade missions. Ms. Bamberger has been the primary liaison between New York Food Producers and Food Export USA-Northeast, a membership organization of the 10 Northeast States. Food Export USA organizes activities to enhance and grow sales by conducting activities such as International Buyer Missions, Trade Show Support, Trade Lead dissemination, Market Research, and more.

Ms. Bamberger earned an MBA at Sage Graduate School and a BA in Spanish and Political Science with a concentration in International Relations from St. Lawrence University. Prior to joining the Department, she worked in sales and marketing (domestic and international) in the publishing industry. Ms. Bamberger is active in the Capital Region and has held leadership positions with several organizations including the Albany Fund for Education, Junior League, Red Cross, Albany City Schools and Albany Youth Soccer.

How to work with me

What I can offer

I work in International Business Development with New York companies. I have extensive experience with trade shows, matchmaking, research and can facilitate technical assistance, export marketing grants and regulatory advisement.

My expectations for a successful mentoring relationship

Ideally businesses I work with have some experience selling on a regional or national level, if not international. If not, the individual charged with global business has experience elsewhere. The company should be in business for at least a year and be committed to exploring and supporting international sales efforts.

How entrepreneurs can prepare before we start

Please have a business plan, a firm understanding of your product costs and the willingness to invest in opportunities. Our funding is always on a reimbursement basis and is never retroactive. It is limited to export marketing activities and subject to availability.
