My current challenges
We are partnered with physician-affiliates who will test and sell our products. Pre-pandemic, we expected to roll-out via these clinics. In the ongoing-/post-pandemic market, "at a distance" healthcare has accelerated. To be on trend with PESTLE, we will diversity our sales and communication channels--lean into digital marketing and ecommerce, launching as a DNVB + InClinic company.
Actions I’ve taken so far
Construction of our production facility ended and ISO Class 7 certification was received in late February 2020. Building inspectors cleared us for operation in early March--just as COVID19 spiked in NY. With manufacturing open again, we are loading in/validating production equipment and becoming operational.
My future goals
Under the alias of The Sumo Nutrients Co. (sumonutrients.con), Asterism Healthcare will continue as a B2B bulk functional ingredients. The company will offer food, beverage, healthcare and beauty products manufacturers an extraordinary array of natural ingredients with active compounds isolated from plant- and animal-based concentrates rich in nutrition. Traction to date has primarily come from Europe. Thus, I’ve brought on a director level business development and sales person with a pharmaceuticals industry background. I’m also onboarding a B2B digital marketer experienced in automating outreach via LinkedIn and target lists, as well as with associated CRM and analytics. We expect to be revenue/profit positive from Y1. Our automated marketing and CRM plans are expected to accelerate outreach to 36,000 relevant and unique contacts yearly, with a conversion rate of 2%.
The production facility is expected to be online in January 2021. Clinical study of our two lead products will begin in February 2021. Thus, in the Spring of 2021, we’ll launch the DVNB + InClinic Newco to commercialize our own line of nutraceuticals.
When the time is right, I expect to establish a pilot-scale AgTech + ingredients processing facility, possibly in Kamiyama, Tokushima, Japan. This will allow Asterism Healthcare to identify novel plant compounds and to work out the protocols that transform them into saleable ingredients for exploitation in the marketplace.
My motivations to work with a mentor
The digital marketing environment is new to me. I am taking online classes and otherwise developing an understanding of the skills and tools used in this work. It's become clear that the company could benefit from a person with experience specialized to this area. A mentor would help me define the top level strategy, direct me in assembling the tools used in campaigns and guide the execution of tasks. Becoming a cofounder is a possibility for the right person.
About my venture
Asterism USA, Inc. dba Asterism Healthcare Started 2014
I established Asterism Healthcare as a contract development organization, developing nutraceuticals products for B2B clients and outsourcing production to toll manufacturers. Over the past year, we have built a cleanroom production facility within The Accelerator @ Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Now, with in-house production capacity, we will spin off and establish a B2B2CD2C startup in precision nutrition, a fast growing field where nutrition becomes medicine. This "Newco" will offer a brand line of research validated, plant/nutrent-based, non-drug therapeutics for indications related to skin health, obesity and immune support. We will serve physicians, the persons under their care and other end users who are concerned with a specific condition, preventive care or achieving personal performance goals.
