My background as an entrepreneur
My current challenges
I am wondering if I should panel with more insurance agencies to take on individual clients vs be an out of network provider. Currently working full time at a not for profit and in financial insecurity. Starting a new job working as a consultant with FTC (end of Jan) in order to have some sustained income as I begin this venture...how will I manage my time? Branding my services in such a way that I am able to build a caseload that resonates with my clinical and trained abilities. Maintaining financial integrity as I have been quick to lower prices to meet the buyers need and not take my own seriously and stay in poverty consciousness. Finding a place to start. Feeling serious about this in being more than a dream!
Actions I’ve taken so far
I will be fully independent in March of 2021, giving leave to my current position. I am paneled with one insurance company (Aetna). I have liability insurance with APA. I am reviewing and researching many blogs and websites that appeal to me and share my vision. I am learning the difference between a sole proprietorship, a LLC and my eventual dream, a B Corp.
My future goals
To have this vision in a slow way that grows in its own sustainability. To be financially secure and able to pay down the exorbitant student loan I have (been paying $500-$200 for the past 11 years and STILL owe over 300K). To develop professionally and help deeply in the mental health and healing arts fields. To be stable to pay it forward. To have a physical and virtual space that is accessible to all peoples no matter what their current SES. To stay relevant and global.
My motivations to work with a mentor
I have a lot of motivation. I really need help. I have a lot of ideas but feel very overwhelmed and stagnant. I have not had good sponsorship or mentoring. I have done so much on my own, failed and been alone. I am really interested in being in community with values, missions and integrity. I am a strong partner in what I set out to do and what is given to me. I appreciate constructive criticism and direction.
About my venture
Beth Gordon, PsyD but looking for branding ideas and such
Hello! Thank you for this incredible opportunity. I am beginning the process to become a therapist in private practice. I have a doctorate in clinical psychology, licensed in NY since 2013, and have been working in the county, inpatient and not for profit systems for over 13 years. I am also a Reiki Master and attained a 200 hr Yoga certification in Dharma Mittra Yoga.
Although I have been blessed to 'go where the work is needed', I am feeling very lonely in my day to day practicing of therapy. I want to reach more people and work closer in community (local and global). I am interested in creating a Wellness Hub, or Active Healing Space; with a mission of integrating mind, body and soul practices. A blend of one on one therapy/coaching, group therapy, workshops, streams of data (visual and written), and collaborations.
The focus is on embodied practices and creativity for healing of mind, body and spirit.
I want to create a sort of 'home' for people that are on the healing journey. A place that is centered around witnessing and accountability that is fun, deep and informative.
I am also interested in attaining grants with a focus on mind/body mental health through Art , APA and NIH and project manage a team of practitioners interested in working in schools, hospitals and inpatient settings.
